Busch Gardens Tampa Bay combines unparalleled exotic animal encounters, world-class thrill rides, and family fun entertainment. This year, explore the world through “Iceploration,” the park’s all-new ice show. And go zero to Cheetah on the park’s newest launch coaster, Cheetah Hunt.

Just over an hour west of SeaWorld Orlando near Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast, you'll find yourself on the edge of Africa at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay.

Experience up-close encounters with amazing animals, take an unforgettable safari across the Serengeti Plains, test your courage on pulse-pounding roller coasters, take in a stage show, and see colorful live entertainment all year long. Busch Gardens is perhaps Tampa’s most beloved attraction, and is world-famous for its thrill rides, vivid and fragrant subtropical gardens, and for being a fantastic, Gulf-Coast alternative to the parks of the Orlando area. Furthermore, there is nothing gimmicky about this park’s African theme—it’s done well, and the animal preserves are a beautiful and tasteful addition to the rides and shows.

What’s so special about Busch Gardens? Here’s a look at some of the most exciting features of Tampa’s favorite park (which, by the way, is massive!):

Jungala: Have you ever been inches from a Bengal tiger, standing below and looking up at it through a layer of glass? Unless you’ve been to Busch Gardens before, the answer is “no”! Have you ever ridden a zip-line through a rainforest, or looked an orangutan in the eye? Jungala is a Congo-themed mini-park within Busch Gardens set on 4 acres, offering up-close animal interactions and 2 very high-speed roller coasters.

Serengeti Plain: Perhaps the most beautiful area of the park, this habitat lets you have a bird’s- eye-view of giraffes and loads of African plains species while passing over in a quiet Skyride.

SheiKra: This blazing-fast roller coaster takes you up 200 feet, then holds you at the edge of a true 90-degree drop before plunging you (4 long seconds later) straight to the ground at 70mph.

Stanley Falls: Located in the “Stanleyville” section of Busch Gardens, this is a great place to cool off and ride the flume before plummeting in a 40-foot drop.

Tanganyika Tidal Wave: This ride starts out mildly enough, taking you on a pleasant boat ride through peaceful greenery…then suddenly you’re brutally dropped down 55 feet into the waters below, sending a gigantic tidal wave of water that soaks everyone standing on the bridge above!

Montu: Count them…this ride has 7 inversions, and is one of the longest and tallest inverted roller coasters in the world, meaning you should lose the flip flops and loose change before getting on! Montu is consistently rated one of the best steel coasters on earth for the intense 3.85 Gs you’ll feel.

Busch Gardens is a misty, flowery haven of rides and animals and somehow manages to have it all without being gimmicky. The African theme works well with the subtropical Florida climate, and this park has something for everyone, so don’t skip it!
